True North Games – Up and Running

Welcome to the True North Games!
“True North” a is locally led youth group initiative of North Auckland Churches. Operating as a collective, this group sees great opportunity and benefit in joining together with like-minded people of faith.

True North, spearheaded in this project by super keen sports enthusiast and Youth Pastor at Windsor Baptist Church, Caleb Finlayson, combined with the Mass Sport Trust to launch the inaugural True North Games – a day of Fun Social Sports challenges for Youth groups and their leaders. Mass Sports leant its experience in competition management, and sports gear for multiple activities. Going forward we look forward to growing the event to be a real highlight in the Christian youth calendar.

In his opening address Caleb thanked the various Youth Groups for attending the inaugural event and shared his vision for this particular event becoming a not to be missed celebration of Youth Sport and Faith.

Competition between the various Youth Groups was fierce, particularly on the Turbo Touch and Volleyball courts. There was no specific WINNING team but we know the ones who love to compete and those who love to laugh (mostly both). The Windsor Park Baptist boom box made sure there were appropriate music to keep the atmosphere in True North spirit.

After the completion of the event the attendees headed over to the Cafe where they were rewarded for their 3 hours of sports action with a mandatory sausage sizzle and a drink.

Thanks must go to the Windsor Park Trust (East Coast Bays Sports Club) for the use of their fields, all the participants (and their trusty Youth Leaders) who never faltered in 3 hours of sports action and importantly Caleb and Graeme for managing the Show!
